All about Adrie

AdrianneWelcome to Adrianne's home on the web.  Adrianne, a/k/a Adrie is eight years old and she joined our family on January 29, 2005.  Her adoption was finalized on July 19, 2006.

School

Adrianne is in Third grade at Polton Elementary School in Aurora Colorado. Her teachers are Ms. Broach and Ms. Lindbloom.   . Adrianne says her favorite subject is recess. Adrie loves to play with her toys, and do anything where she is the center of attention!

Interests

Adrianne loves video games, playing with her sisters and friends, and anything that puts her at the center of attention. She enjoys camping and fishing with the family. Last year she got to go skiing for the first time and loved it. Now she plays baseball with the Mile High Miracle League, and while she loves playing offense, defense is a little boring. She is still learning there is no crying in baseball.

Adoption Day!

On July 19, 2005 Adrianne's adoption was finalized.   Carrie is a very proud mama.  Look on our picture page for pictures of this momentous day.

Adrianne's birth name was Aedreiane Monycquie.  We changed the spelling of her name to make it a bit easier for people to guess at the spelling.  We choose Adrianne with an "a" to reflect Carrie's middle name, Ann.  We added Emily in honor of Adrianne's great-aunt Emily.

History

Adrie was born at Christmas time, and was a teeny tiny baby, weighing only 895 grams.  She was born about 3 and a half months early.  She had a lot of struggles in her early months.  She went home from the hospital for the first time when she was 7 months old.  She was home for only a few weeks when she returned for several more months.  Her first three years were spent in and out of the hospital.

She left her birth family when she was three and a half, and entered foster care.  Thankfully she only lived in one foster home for the two and a half years she was in foster care.  Jean and David were her foster parents and they love her very much.  Adrianne joined our family on January 29, 2005, almost exactly five years after Heather joined our family.

Adrianne has cerebral palsy and short gut syndrome, both due to her prematurity.   She has developmental delays, in part due to the cerebral palsy, and in part due to the neglect she experienced in her early years.

Here is a link to a TV segment about her before we were matched.  Scroll down the page to find the link to the video of her.

Here are pictures of her room and other parts of our house as we got ready for her arrival.
